Hi all.
I was just curious what yall think of Globe's english. Sometimes they get it right but most of the time they don't. Don't get me wrong, I kind of like it like that since that kind of defines Globe. But I am curious if they are putting bad english into their songs, tiltles, etc on purpose or are they just not doing the research to find out the correct english to use in the first place and using bad english is just their 'gimmick'.

I think they HAVE to have someone who is fluent in english working with them. Where else would titles like "Transcontinental way", "Throwin' Down in the Double O", etc, come from? I'm not really sure why they use bad english in their songs. Maybe its just because it gets the point across, and fits with the rhyme they're aiming for. As for their pronunciation of english, its horrible... especially keiko's. It makes me wish I could understand her, but it sounds cool at the same time.

All the lyrics are written by Marc and TK (though Keiko has done some too, Tonikaku mushouni at least); TK knows some, perhaps a bit better than the average Japanese person, but I think Marc is the main contributor for English in globe. He's pretty good at it, he's answered some questions made in English on his Q&A at his site, but it's far from fluent. And considering he's of French descendancy his English can also be a bit haphazard.

My uncle laughed so hard when he read the first column of globe decade ~singles history 1995-2004~ tracklisting. "feel like dance" was the main factor.
I think marc's english is very bad. But he's improving. Keiko's english is also bad.. (im on the way to myself???)
But i still think its cool.

It's simply "cool" to toss english into your songs in Japan, it doesn't have to be grammatically correct.
Marc speaks decent English, not great
Don't think the songs represent their actual skills, I'm sure they'll sacrifice grammar if it makes it easier to fit the rhythmn because most of their audience won't know

Hmm... I always figured they had some sort of consultant that they would ask (I reached this conclusion because lots of the lyrics have slang / phrases that only advanced users of the language would be familiar with)

Yeah I guess I'm not as familiar with japanese culture as you guys... I didnt really base I disagreeumptions on any fact, its just what I always thought. I would be interested in asking globe that though... I'm sure they've mentioned it in SOME magazine article
